Bike IQ 1.1.5: Bike Bell Overhaul, FTP Detection, and Climb Tracking

Release March 20, 2026

This update overhauls the bike bell system, gives you control over how FTP is detected, and makes climb tracking smarter.

Bike Bell Overhaul

The bell gets its own dedicated settings screen and a full sound library: Digital Rotary, Classic Rotary, Classic Bell, Alert, Horn, and Siren. Ring-type bells let you configure how many rings and the spacing between them. Horn and Siren are hold-to-play with adjustable duration.

There's a new bell button in the session controls bar for a quick tap alongside the existing palm gesture. And a "play at full volume" option temporarily maxes system volume for the bell, then restores it. Useful when you need to be heard.

FTP Detection Methods

Bike IQ auto-detects your Functional Threshold Power from ride data. You can now choose which detection methods the app uses: 20-minute efforts (more stable) or 8-minute efforts (more responsive). You can also set how far back it scans: 3 months, 6 months, a year, or all time. Changing either setting immediately recalculates your FTP.

Climb Abandonment

Climb tracking now detects when you turn around mid-climb. If you reverse more than 50 meters below your peak progress, the climb resets instead of showing decreasing progress forever. Your climb stats stay clean.

Radar Refinements

The radar widget gets a perspective lane view with animated dashes that scroll at your riding speed, a quick controls sheet on long-press, and a dedicated settings screen with position, animation, and refresh rate options. This update also adds support for the new Garmin Varia RearVue 820's enhanced data, including vehicle type classification (cars, trucks, motorcycles) and lateral positioning.

Drivetrain Warnings

If your chainring and cassette configuration looks unusual (more chainrings or speeds than expected, or empty values), a warning appears on the bike configuration screen. This catches setup errors that would throw off gear detection and power estimates.

Plus fixes for calorie calculations, FIT file exports, Bluetooth sensor connections, and TPMS battery life.
